Press Release: Little Liners join CNJ Pop Warner

The Little Liners have joined the founding Junior Skyland Football Conference members to
move to Pop Warner Football and Cheer.
Phillipsburg, NJ – Sunday, June 7, 2020 – The Phillipsburg Liners Club, Inc. is now a member of the
Central New Jersey Pop Warner program for Football and cheerleading.
The Phillipsburg Little Liners, have joined the founding members of the Junior Skyland Football Conference (JSFC) from Ridge, North
Hunterdon and Voorhees with a change to the Pop Warner league. With new levels of competitive play that closely align to the JSFC to
serve as feeder programs to the local high schools, the teams in this conference will allow the Little Liners to participate against more
teams, closer teams to our area and have a full game day schedule. The last few years of team mergers from multiple conferences, has
led to most of the other JSFC members joining and merging with other local teams in their areas. Many are in this conference.
Phillipsburg Little Liners will continue to offer the same high quality competitive league model as they have for over 25 years. Pop
Warner is one of the few programs that requires academic proficiency as a prerequisite for participation. Therefore, on the field or
performance floor, the commitment to scholastics is equally important. Contrary to criticism, this is not a tryout program and no one is
cut on the rosters. There are equipment requirements and a full time executive staff to support our organization and provide oversite to
the conference. This merger will offer new payment plan programs and reduced or waived fees for hardship requests for our families.
The admission to Pop Warner will also offer new grants, equipment, uniforms, recruitment and general operation support to the
organization to increase participation in both football and cheerleading. With multiple levels of play, and over 30 organizations in this
conference, we will continue to have the ability to field multiple teams if necessary. There will not be 40 athletes on one team competing
for playing time. Most important to our us, is Pop Warner exceeds the state and local standards for background checks by requiring
annual checks of all coaches, board members and anyone who is volunteer or hired staff member.
The Phillipsburg Little Liners will continue to offer K-8th grade football and cheerleading. The Phillipsburg Liners Club remains a nonprofit
organization is always looking for help from the community to field many positions and sponsorships for their fall season. To
become a sponsor, volunteer, board member or coach, contact the Little Liners organization at [email protected] , or
submit a request on their website. Sponsors for summer camps are being taken until 07/01/2020 when we expect to have more
information from the league and State of NJ.
